Getting there

40 minby car from Denver (DEN)

Two RTD light rail stations, Empower Field at Mile High and Decatur-Federal, give direct access to the stadium; check RTD for service updates, frequency and capacity limits on game days. Rideshare drop-off is at the northeast corner of the stadium near Gate 5 on Mile High Stadium Circle, while pick-up is at the Ball Arena rideshare lot at 5th and Walnut, roughly a 15-minute walk east. Scooters are banned on the stadium-perimeter sidewalks on event days.

Parking

Pre-purchased on-site permits are sold out for the season. Lots open 4.5 hours before kickoff, and the gameday options sold by credit card are the early-tailgating Ford F-150 Lot C ($55, opens six hours before kickoff and is expected to sell out within 30 to 60 minutes) and a carpool section in the Ford Super Duty Lot A ($45, vehicles with four or more people only). The team suggests off-site lots at Ball Arena, Auraria Campus, the Denver Aquarium and Riverside Church, which open to the public about four hours before kickoff.

Tailgating

Tailgating is permitted, but one permit equals one parking space, spaces are for vehicles only, and tailgates may not block drive lanes or walkways. The most coveted spot is Lot C, the early tailgating lot, where fans line up hours ahead for a small number of first-come spaces in a tradition dating to the stadium's opening. Tailgating is not allowed in the carpool section in Lot A.

Where to sit

The lower bowl sits on the 100 level, with club and suite levels in the 200s and 300s and the upper deck in the 500s. Mile High's altitude and loud crowds are a signature home-field advantage. Late-season games can be cold regardless of seat.

Good to know

  1. 01

The stadium opened on August 11, 2001, replacing the original Mile High Stadium, and sits at an elevation of exactly one mile, 5,280 feet.

  2. 02

Ed Sheeran's August 19, 2023 concert set the building's attendance record at 85,233.

  3. 03

Denver voters approved the funding referendum for the stadium in November 1998, and Empower Retirement took the naming rights in 2019 under a 21-year agreement.

Weather

Denver is semi-arid and sunny, so September games are often warm and dry, but measurable snow can arrive from mid-October and November is the city's third-snowiest month. December and January Sundays can be cold, though warm chinook winds sometimes bring a quick thaw. Dress in layers, since conditions can swing quickly.
