Getting there

30 minby car from Pittsburgh (PIT)

An elevated walkway links the stadium to Allegheny Station on the Pittsburgh Light Rail (the T), and Gate C, the closest entrance to that station, carries the Heinz name. On Steelers and Pitt home-game days, Gateway Clipper Fleet boats also carry fans from the Station Square parking facilities. By car, the stadium sits at Exit 1B of I-279, and the team publishes alternate exits to avoid event-day backups.

Parking

North Shore parking is sold by pre-purchased permit (Gold, Red, Blue and Green lots and garages), with additional card-only event-day lots such as the Rivers Casino and Nova Place garages. The newer Champions Garage, with more than 400 spaces behind the Hyatt Place between the stadium and PNC Park, delivers passes by mobile only. Alco Parking operates the surrounding lots.

Tailgating

Tailgating is not allowed inside the Champions Garage, and the other pre-sold lots and garages have their own rules, so check your pass. Franco's Pizzeria, the Franco Harris venture on Art Rooney Avenue near the FedEx Great Hall, is the unofficial pregame stop for a slice.

Where to sit

The first row sits 60 feet from the sideline and 25 feet from the end zone, so even the lowest rows are close to the action. The stadium has 8,799 club seats across three lounges (East, West and North End) plus 129 suites.

Good to know

  1. 01

Construction used about 12,000 tons of steel, a nod to the city's steelmaking past.

  2. 02

On September 8, 2013, the Titans' opening kickoff was ruled a safety three seconds into the game, the quickest score in NFL history.

  3. 03

The Steelers had sold out every home game since the 1972 season as of 2018.

Weather

Pittsburgh averages a high near 63 F and low near 44 F in October, 51/34 in November, 41/27 in December and 36/21 in January (1991-2020 normals). Snow starts showing up in November (about 2 inches) and picks up in December and January, so late-season games are cold and sometimes snowy.
