Getting there

25 minby car from Indianapolis (IND)

The stadium sits on the south edge of downtown, and an underground walkway ties it to the Indiana Convention Center, which in turn links to Circle Centre Mall and more than 4,700 downtown hotel rooms without going outside. Official drop-off points are at the southwest corner (for northbound Missouri Street traffic) and the northeast corner near the Colts Pro Shop (for southbound Capitol Avenue traffic), and both can be restricted for about an hour before and after events.

Parking

The Colts do not operate any lots around the stadium; single-game parking is sold through partner ParkWhiz, and season holders use named lots and garages such as Blue South (601 S. Capitol), Purple IFA (650 S. West) and the Rolls-Royce garage on W. Henry. The team recommends reaching downtown at least three hours before kickoff because of road closures, construction and heavy traffic. Doors open two hours before kickoff.

Tailgating

Tailgating rules are set by each downtown lot operator, so ask the operator before you set up a grill. The team's free pregame party, American Family Insurance Touchdown Town, opens three hours before kickoff on South Street by the north gate, with live music, local food trucks, $3 Bud Light specials and appearances by the Colts drumline and cheerleaders.

Where to sit

The home team decides 90 minutes before kickoff whether the roof is open or closed, so weather exposure is not a factor in picking a seat. The northeast operable window gives a view toward the Indianapolis skyline. Premium options include the Kennmar East Club, Ascension St. Vincent West Club and the 200-guest Quarterback Suite.

Good to know

  1. 01

The retractable roof is two panels weighing about 2.5 million pounds each, and it opens in roughly 11 minutes.

  2. 02

The facade uses about 980,000 bricks, which laid end to end would stretch roughly 185 miles, the distance from Indianapolis to Chicago.

  3. 03

Its six-panel operable window on the northeast side, about 88 feet tall and 244 feet wide, was billed as the first of its kind in the NFL.
